We follow Amy, a medical student going through her psych rotation. We switch between a period of her life 8 years ago and the 12 hour shift she has in a locked psychiatric ward. We watch as a myriad of suspicious activities happen throughout the night.
However, as we learn more about Amy we discover she is an unreliable narrator who has a history of delusions - or so she thinks. Amy never knows if what she is seeing is real or if she imagined the horror. All she knows is that she cannot wait to escape the unit. We feel Amy’s fear and just like her, we never know who to trust. The story comes with many shocking discoveries and a main character you never truly have much confidence in.
