Ambros Casablancas and his baby sisters best friend Cal Litvin. Going into this book I was very excited for this trope but was underwhelmed. Ambrose is branded as grumpy and unapproachable but in reality, he is a full-blown asshole. He is constantly rude to everyone including this love interest for most of the book. As for Cal, she is branded as the sunshine girl who is quirky and fun but has a hidden darker side. She tends to be too cheesy for me but if that's something you enjoy, this is the book for you.

I loved that L.J Shen creates a deep and dark backstories for her main characters so the readers get under the surface level for them both. However, she makes Cals backstory from highschool the basis of her entire personality. We have to wait until deep into the book to get any information but she brings brings it up in her point of view almost every chapter. Ambroses backstory is dark and stormy but it adds to his personality instead of being all that he is.

As for the love story in this book, I enjoyed seeing the side characters get to have some of their love life sprinkled in and add a bit more of a rounded experience to the story. With Cal and Ambrose, it was hard to watch them have the absolute worse communication skills to ever exist for people in their twenties. However, the obsession they both held with one another was fun to experience.

Overall, the book was an easy read that keeps you entertained while not really being all that intense. If you are looking for a simple little romance book this is for you.
